Good for me

I just saved the world in 14 hours and 27 minutes...You're welcome Princess Zelda!

Yes I am a Geek!

The Fescue, the Fescue, the Fescue on Fi-ya!

So most of you know I live and work in a plot of land that was purchased by the county with plans to turn it into a park in the next few years. Now, this area has a lot of prairie land some of which we have plans to return to native prairie. Here is a picture from another one of our parks that is a few years ahead of us. Since most of this land had been farmed for so many years this process can take up to 5 years before you really start to see results. The second step in this process (after step number one which is let it sit for a few years to let herbacides disapate) is to burn and seed the area. Now in other park settings we do most of the burning ourselves but with the current shortage of staff and mostly shortage of equipment, we recruited the local fire department to lend a hand. They actually came to us with the idea since they like to do a couple burns a year for practice. I don't think Edgerton fire dept sees too many fires. So yesterday they came out and we lit some things on fire. I took a few pictures and a video for you all to look at. They're not the greatest pictures but it's always more fun to look at pictures instead of words.

Ok, now how the heck do I get a video on here?

Someone who knows how to post a video talk to me. Is there a way you can do it without adding it to another web site first? I just want to download it off my computer onto here? Help me Obe-whan-someone, you're my only hope.

Spelunking??? Spe-whos-idea-was-this???

So we had quite an adventure at work today. After many months of procrastination, I finally couldn't stand it any more and shored up the foundation on the house. I don't think that it was ever really bad until the last month. But I'm sure most of you have heard me complaining ...and dreading having to do anything about it for quite a while. What really convinced me that it was time to do something about it was two nights ago I was sitting in the living room and Lucy trotted through the room and I could feel the couch bounce up and down. So I figured that I had probably procrastinated enough.

So I got the supplies together, came up with a plan and crawled in. Of coarse I suited up from head to toe first, it's quite dirty under there.

Let me tell you, if you've ever thought, you know I think I would like to dig some holes in the crawl space of my house...I'm here to tell you, it's really not as fun as it sounds. First of all, as you will see from the pictures, there was very little wiggle room. It was one way in, one way out and a whole lot of belly crawling in between.

So since this space was so incredibly small, and we needed to dig some footings for the floor jacks to go into...we had to utilize some rather small tools to dig with.

Since this could get to be a rather long story...and since im so dang tired...I'll spare you all the details and just show you the pictures. Now the halogen lights are still in there because we'll need them tomorrow so ignore them. No we just let the concrete set over night and then crank it up a few good inches in the morning and we should be all good to go...no more bouncy bouncy.

One thing is for sure...Im glad it's not spider season yet!

First attempt...Unsuccessful.

It is my unfortunate duty to inform you all know that my first attempt at becoming a gooseographer has failed. And by Gooseographer I mean, video taping me running around the park like a fool shooting noise makers at stubborn geese. I imagine that once I do get some good footage of this it will be quite entertaining to watch. My coworker seemed to get a kick out of it anyways. I just need to work on my "stealth mode". The geese apparently have the ability to recognize certain vehicles and bright orange guns as something they would prefer to avoid.

Keep watching. I will capture this on video, and I will share it with all of you.

Also, new link over there on the left. The Eldest older brother has decided to test his skills. Nothin wrong with a little skill honing.

A 2nd rounder huh? That it?

Well it's official, and I for one say good riddance. Heck yeah I enjoyed having him as a Viking. Any fan knows we require a love/HATE relationship with our team, and he fit that bill.

Yeah he gave us two really solid years, a few good ones and a few that we would all rather forget. For a quarterback in the NFL I'd have to say that's pretty dang ok. But I have always been a firm beliver in the "If they don't wanna be here, then we're better off without em" theory.

So it's off to Florida for the big guy. I hear they have bigger boats there. I am glad that Gus wont be staying in Miami also. I always liked that guy and I would hate to see him have to back Daunte again. So that's good for his sake.

Now this whole 2nd round pick trade BS really frosted me at first. You throw the leagues best reciver to Oakland and get little in return, then you get rid of "Our guy"(that's what coaches like to call their starting QB's right?) for a freakin 2nd rounder?

Now I say that I was upset at first, but that's before I started thinking about it. The Vikings have a primo opportunity here in the draft. If you notice, the Saints have just signed Brees to a six year deal, and they have a Number 2 Pick in the draft this year which WILL be Leinart or Young since Bush is going to be number 1. And I can't imagine the saints not taking advantage of the fact that they don't need to draft a QB and trading that pick off.

So if anyone in the Vikings head office is reading this, here is what you need to do. Trade New Orleans our First round pick as well as both of our 2nd rounders for their number 2. That way we get very promising back up for Brad, and they get a butt load of picks in the first two rounds and don't have to waste one on a QB they don't need. I say that's a win win.

And if you think about it, pretending they didn't get a 2nd rounder from Miami, they would really be trading Culpepper plus a 1st and 2nd round pick for the best possible Class of 06 QB.(we hope) I think that seems like a deal.

Anyways, it's all water under the bridge. I for one was really hopeing to see him go to Arizona. I think he woulda looked funny in white and red(kinda like the Edge will)

And the winner is?

You guys don't make this easy.

Looks like the suburu gets 2 votes.
Civic 1 vote
Matrix 1 vote
And the Mazda 3 gets 20 votes.

Oh, I forgot to tell you, my vote counts for 20.

I think Erin whould have voted AGAINST the Mazda instead of FOR one of them(and her vote counts for 19 so the Suburu would have won). But, since she didn't vote I guess its her loss.

I'll keep you all informed.

Anyone wanna buy a mostly fixed up Jetta? It's a great deal.

Let's buy a car.

Ok, so the time has come to sell the little red lemon! I feel like I have done the repairs that needed to be done in order to sell it in good conscience, but not too much that I feel obligated to keep it any longer. Not that there is anything seriously wrong with it, I just have a bad luck curse with this car and have a feeling there is something coming down the pipe to bite me in the butt. Hopefully the new owner will have better luck than I did.

So this is where you come in. I need some help deciding what to replace it with and though it would be fun if you all helped me decide. I wont tell you what my number one choice is as not to influence the voting. And if I have inadvertently divulged this information to you in an email then please do not take it into consideration. I want this to be as democratic as possible...Does everyone remember what democracy is??? If you can remember back to October, 2000. That's the last time democracy was recorded to exist in its natural environment. Now you can only find it in Zoo's and Museums...And some 3rd world countries that have decided to go retro with their governments, you know, try something that hasn't been done in a while...

I Digress.

Here are your choices. Please vote in the comments and I promise to get the one you choose...well, to consider getting the one you choose anyways.

Number 1

Number 2

Number 3

Number 4

Last ones a little fuzzy so you'll have to use your imagination.
I figured I should use the dash to judge since that's what you end up lookin at the whole time you're in your car anyways, so we gotta have a good dash.

One for the Goosers

Some of you will be happy to know that the Goosing is going very well. The large groups of 500 geese have found there way to greener pastures with less bird bangers to annoy them. But there are 5 or 6 that insist on hangin around. I think they had already put a down payment on a plot for their nest. Lake front property.

Yesterday I think I might have given one of them an aneurysm. They kept flying around in a big circle every time we scared them up and landing right back in the pond. So the third time we decided to hide behind the dam and wait for them to come back. They did about 5 minutes later and as they were coming in for a landing, giving their obligatory honk honk honk they had no idea we were there. With that, I shot a banger right out in front of them as they flew in towards us. That's when I started to feel a little bad. After the bang, the gooses honk went from the typical honk to more of a Houf Houf Hfff.

It worked though, one way or another. He either just got sick of us making so much noise, was embarrassed in front of his lady friend or his brain shorted out and he just got lost. Either way, they flew the other direction and didn't come back.

We'll see what today holds.

Mmmm Blueberries

This weather is really messing with my subconscious. Growing up I always loved this time of year when 33 degrees was enough to make you think it was time to wear shorts, you could see the asphalt for the first time in 5 months, you could walk down the sidewalk without constantly keeping your inner thy muscles tense while you shuffled you feet as not to do the uncontrollable flailing arm/fall down dance in front of a crowd of passers by(am I the only one who did that?) But most importantly, this was the time of year when the snow banks started to melt and every road edge became a 8 year olds version of an olympic kayak run for twigs.

This year is different. Sure the weather is warming up(the 80 degree forcast today kind of wierds me out), and there are times where it still has that thawing out feel. But it isn't quite the same when all winter it only made it below freezing for a few days here and there and there has been no snow to speak of for months. No rain either for that matter.

My brain is confused. The weather... and angle of the sun divided by the square root of 75(or something like that) makes me think I should be seeing those snow banks melting but all I see is a dusty road side. I keep dropping twigs on the side of the road wishing that they would be wisked down the way in a race to the giant culvert finish line. Maybe that's why Lucy keeps giving me that cocked head look(the dog version of "Hummna-huh" or what's that nut ball doing that for).

Maybe it's the square root of 74.

Is it obvious that I have nothing really to talk about...
